Concerted effort to restore the Lake Sevan ecosystem
In a concerted effort to restore the Lake Sevan ecosystem, UNDP supported the deployment of innovative underwater technology to clean the lakebed, while cultivating local capacities to uptake the technological solutions and engaging in production and marketing of upcycled goods. Within the major accomplishments is the scanning of approximately 137 sq. km of the lakebed, resulting in the retrieval of over 2,600 lost nets weighing a total of 6 tons. These nets were then transformed into souvenirs, generating supplemental income for the local populace. Watch the story to learn more about the project.
