Today, the National Steering Committee of the Global Environment Facility's (GEF) Small Grants Programme (SGP) in Armenia approved four grant projects. Among them 3 projects were approved through GEF SGP funding and one – through GEF-funded Mainstreaming Sustainable Land and Forest Management in Mountain Landscapes of North-eastern Armenia (SLM/SFM) project, for which the SGP serves as a delivery mechanism. The projects address the following OP-6 strategic initiatives: Local to Global Chemical Management Coalitions, Community Landscape and Seascape Conservation, and Low Carbon Energy Access Co-benefits.

Women in Berd district of the bordering Tavush region are involved in various initiatives aimed at decreasing unemployment in the region. 

One of such initiatives is "Berd Berry" project supported by the UNDP/GEF Small Grants Programme (SGP). Through the financial support of SGP and with the help of “Berd Women Resource Center” Foundation, women cultivate wild berries for promoting local eco-production. On 14 July ISSD - Innovative Solutions for Sustainable Development of Communities within its “Recycle it” project funded by the #UNDP/ Global Environment Facility GEF Small Grants Programme has organized a clean-up in public shore of Lake Sevan, Drakhtik community. Sixteen volunteers from various regions of #Armenia have participated in the event. Around 60kg of plastic waste been collected from the shore, which has been taken to a recycling station in #Yerevan. Other collected waste (around 160kg) has been taken to the landfill by the local volunteers. 

The Global Environment Facility’s (GEF) Small Grants Programme (SGP) in Armenia is pleased to announce the receipt of GEF STAR funds for grant-making in Biodiversity and Climate Change focal areas. Applications are accepted from registered national NGOs without foreign founders regularly throughout the year.

FOR THE IMPLEMENTATION OF SUSTAINABLE LAND AND FOREST MANAGEMENT PROJECT IN LORI REGION

The Global Environment Facility’s (GEF) Small Grants Programme (SGP) in cooperation with UNDP/GEF “Mainstreaming sustainable land and forest management in mountain landscapes of North-Eastern Armenia” (SLM/SFM) project opens a call for grant project concepts addressing sustainable land and forest management in Lori region.

Among them 4 projects were approved through GEF SGP funding and 2 – through GEF-funded Mainstreaming Sustainable Land and Forest Management in Mountain Landscapes of North-eastern Armenia (SLM/SFM) project, for which the SGP serves as a delivery mechanism. The projects address the following OP-6 strategic initiatives: Climate Smart Innovative Agro-ecology and Low Carbon Energy Access Co-benefits.
